Cock at Broom wins best pub award
The Cock at Broom has been declared the best pub in Bedfordshire by the Telegraph.
The Cock is a lovely grade II listed village free house dating from the 1830s, full of character and offering many small rooms. The front parlour has a wood fire, there is a snug room and also a games room with hood skittles, cribbage and darts. The one regular real ale is Greene King Abbot, with three guest beers from Greene King or other breweries such as Adnams, St Austell, Theakston or Tring.
The Cock is an unusual survivor from the past in having no bar, with draught beers and other drinks served direct from the cellar. Cask-conditioned beers are dispensed direct from the cask and are always in excellent condition. Those choosing food are also well looked after, with fresh local produce used where possible.
Camping is available on-site, with access to toilets and cold water. There are also three apartments in adjacent cottages
The Cock is one of Bedfordshire’s few entries in CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. It has also been awarded CAMRA East Beds Rural Pub of the Year.. For further details, visit WhatPub, the Cock's website or Cock Facebook page.
